It’s a new year, and with it comes an embarrassment of riches when it comes to live shows in the area. Here is our ever-growing accounting of the shows (so far) on North Texas’ to-do list.
Spring
May closes out spring with the start of outdoor festival season. Richardson’s Wildwood Arts and Music Festival will feature acts like Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Little River Band, the Romantics, Beth Nielsen Champman, Jimmie Vaughan and the Tilt-A-Whirl Band, Joshua Ray Walker, and more. Grapevine’s Main Street Fest will feature Vertical Horizon and Little Texas. Also check out: Mamamoo, Fusion Fest, Exodus Music and Arts Festival, Reckless Kelly, Dead & Company, Roger Creager, Charlie Puth, Dave Matthews Band, Rodrigo y Gabriela, and Warrant.
Summer
You and your friends are going to want to nail down your Janet Jackson tickets. Top priority of the summer. Ms. Jackson’s opener will be Ludacris, and she promises that there will be new music to go with that Together Again tour, which will arrive at Dos Equis Pavilion in June. Also headed to that venue? The Outlaw Music Festival, featuring Willie Nelson, Whiskey Myers, Flatland Cavalry and more. Still feeling nostalgic? Duran Duran will be hitting the AAC and Weezer will be at the Toyota Music Factory this month, too. Grand Prairie’s Texas Trust Credit Union Theater will host Re:SET, a three-day ticket that will include Steve Lacy, Boygenius, Foushee, LCD Soundsystem, and more. Taste Addison will bring Boys Like Girls, Hawthorne Heights, The Story of the Year, and Meet Me @ The Altar this month, too. Drake and 21 Savage will hit American Airlines Center and Tanya Tucker will take the stage at Billy Bob’s Texas toward the end of the month. Also worth checking out: Sammy Kershaw, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Noel Gallagher and Garbage, Lady A, Walker Hayes, Matchbox Twenty, Big Time Rush, Bryan Adams, Fall Out Boy, Christopher Cross and Air Supply, TLC, Patti LaBelle and Gladys Knight, Nickelback, Rodney Crowell, Clint Black, Los Lonely Boys, Rhett Miller, and Lainey Wilson (who will play two shows at Choctaw Grand Theater).
Blink-182 hits the road this summer, and will make a stop at the American Airlines Center in July. Former One Direction member Louis Tomlinson will be at Irving’s Toyota Music Factory, and Paramore, ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Greta Van Fleet will find themselves on the Dickies Arena stage (but not all at the same time). Shania Twain will bring her Queen of Me tour to Dos Equis Pavilion, too. Erykah Badu will wind up her Unfollow Me tour in her hometown, at American Airlines Center. The I Love the 90s Tour will feature Vanilla Ice, Rob Base, Tone Loc, 2 Live Crew, and All-4-One at Toyota Music Factory. Your kids will be pumped to learn that Dude Perfect will take over Dickies Arena at the end of July, too. Also look for: Billy Bob Thornton & The Boxmasters, Eric Church, Craig Robinson, Steve Earle, Jackson Browne, Sublime and Slightly Stoopid, Polyphonic Spree, Steven Miller Band and Cheap Trick, and RuPaul’s Drag Race.
August (so far) offers “What’s Your Country Song” singer Thomas Rhett making a stop at American Airlines Center, JVKE at Southside Ballroom, Rob Zombie and Alice Cooper, 50 Cent, and Post Malone (separately) at Dos Equis Pavillion, a Pantera reunion at AT&T Stadium, Metallica at AT&T Stadium, and Foreigner at Dos Equis Pavilion. The I Want My 80s tour featuring Rick Springfield, the Hooters, Paul Young and Tommy Tutone will be at Dickies Arena. Also head to Dos Equis for Beck and Phoenix, Boy George & Culture Club, and the High School Reunion tour featuring Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, and Too $hort. Also check out: LL Cool J, Black Flag, The Offspring with Simple Plan and Sum 41, Counting Crows, Beck, and Jimmy Eat World and Manchester Orchestra.
Fall
September promises Beyonce at AT&T Stadium, Madonna and Mana at American Airlines Center, Arctic Monkeys at Dickies Arena, P!nk at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Pentatonix at Dos Equis Pavillion, Jelly Roll and Three Six Mafia at Dos Equis Pavillion, and Sam Smith and Luke Bryan at Dickies Arena. Pearl Jam will return to North Texas for the first time in a decade, hitting Dickies Arena for two shows. Lionel Richie and Earth, Wind and Fire will share the bill at American Airlines Center. Drake and 21 Savage will spend two nights at AAC. Also worth noting: Chicago, Arctic Monkeys, Lainey Wilson, Three Doors Down with Candlebox, the Born & Raised Festival, and Darius Rucker.
In October, expect another visit by Shania Twain (this time at Dickies), Jason Aldean (also at Dickies), and Depeche Mode and Peter Gabriel at American Airlines Center. Italian rock band Maneskin will play Toyota Music Factory, and KISS and Grupo Frontera will play Dickies. Also check out: Chris Stapleton and Charley Crockett, John Mayer, Snarky Puppy, Nickel Creek, Nick Cave, Avenged Sevenfold, The Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie, and Kathleen Madigan.
For the rest of fall and winter (so far), expect two nights of George Strait at Dickies Arena, and R&B singer Anita Baker and Aerosmith’s farewell tour are headed for American Airlines Center. Comedy Central’s Michelle Wolfe will perform at the Majestic Theatre. Keep an eye on: Jon Pardi, Queen and Adam Lambert, Lauren Daigle, Derek Hough, Legends of Hip Hop with Juvenile, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, and The National.
