Dallas is still living with the consequences of its past sins. A new documentary about the city’s segregated history makes that abundantly clear.
Bonton + Ideal, which premiered in December on KERA’s “Frame of Mind” series and was released today online, looks at the South Dallas neighborhoods of the title to explore how unjust public policies helped create a divided city. It’s an important subject for anyone with an interest in understanding the Dallas of today and making the city, particularly its most neglected neighborhoods, better.
The film is the seventh installment in the Neighborhood Stories initiative from buildingcommunityWORKSHOP, the local community design nonprofit. It was directed by Craig Weflen.
