Kenny Loggins
April 28, 7:30 p.m.| Dickies Arena, Fort Worth
Do you want to watch your parents dance? Do you like to see your dad do the White Man’s Overbite? Is “Meet Me Halfway” your jam? Well, it is your lucky Friday because Kenny Freaking Loggins is in North Texas. Expect every song you ever loved that Kenny Loggins sang, thought about singing, or you dreamed he sang during that bout with the flu two years ago (even “Return to Pooh Corner”). There is no Kenny Loggins stone left unturned in this tour, which he says is the final one. That is why it’s called the This Is It tour. (Sidebar: I would be very remiss if I didn’t direct you to this incredible Kenny Loggins-adjacent essay, even if it is not seasonally appropriate.) Get tickets here
Dinosaur Jr.
April 28, 8 p.m.| Longhorn Ballroom
Massachusetts alt-rock band Dinosaur Jr. has been together for decades, but don’t make the mistake of thinking they’re prehistoric. This is the band that created the runway for grunge rock bands of the late 80s and 90s, and you can expect your favorites Friday night, including “Sludgefeast,” “Freak Scene,” “Feel the Pain,” and “Watch the Corners.” Get tickets here.
Los Lobos
April 28, 8 p.m.| Tannahill’s Tavern and Music Hall, Fort Worth
Yes, yes, you know Los Lobos from their 1987 cover of Richie Valens’ “La Bamba,” but the LA-based band is much more than that. The band has successfully combined Spanish-language songs into a mash-up of South American and North American sounds, winning a few Grammy awards along the way. Get tickets here.
Music Alley
April 29, 4-10 p.m.| Downtown Mansfield
Mansfield’s free arts and music festival (just named the best mid-market music festival by the Texas Travel Awards) comes back to downtown Saturday, showcasing acts on three stages, plus street performances and interactive art activities. Try out your hand record spin art and tapigami, or help fill out a paint-by-numbers mural. Get information here.
Seal
April 30, 8 p.m.| Music Hall at Fair Park
Seal is celebrating the 30th anniversary of his work with producer Trevor Horn by featuring a setlist full of songs from his first two albums, Seal and Seal II. Expect “Crazy,” “Bring It On,” and “Kiss From a Rose,” which is also on the Batman Forever soundtrack, which was possibly one of the best soundtracks for one of the worst movies ever.
