Tedeschi Trucks Band
May 5, 7:30 p.m.| Music Hall at Fair Park
The Tedeschi Trucks Band, led by the husband and wife team of Susan Tedeschi on vocals and guitar and Derek Trucks on guitar, is touring in support of their 2022 release, I Am the Moon. The Grammy Award-winning band has a catalog that spans about 13 years and more than 100 songs, which means that besides new stuff, you’re bound to hear familiar tunes too if you’ve been a longtime fan. Get tickets here.
Anuel AA
May 5, 8 p.m.| American Airlines Center
Puerto Rican artist Anuel AA was originally due to hit Texas with the U.S. leg of his Las Leyendas Nunca Mueren tour when it kicked off last summer, but postponed it because he wanted to “take some time to recharge my batteries.” He’s all charged up now, though, and kicked off the tour in Orlando late last month. He’ll be at the American Airlines Center Friday night before heading to Houston. Get tickets here.
Ed Sheeran
May 6, 6 p.m.| AT&T Stadium, Arlington
Full disclosure: I don’t listen to a lot of Ed Sheeran, but I believe he writes a lot of songs about not wanting to go to parties. Also, I—for longer than I care to admit—thought the lyric to “Thinking Out Loud” was, “I’ll be loving you, til we’re 17,” which is not a very long time. (It’s 70, by the way, which also still seems a bit like he is working on a deadline.) Get tickets here.
Cottonwood Arts Festival
May 6 and 7| Cottonwood Park, Richardson
The annual (and family-friendly) spring Cottonwood Arts Festival will offer plenty of activities, food vendors, and live music this weekend. Acts like Remy Reilly, Jon Christopher Davis, Blurry, Southpaw Preachers, Wyatt Martin, Miller Campbell, and more will hit two different stages. Get information here.
Brooks & Dunn
May 6, 7 p.m.| Dickies Arena, Fort Worth
“My Maria” is a karaoke banger, and if you don’t believe me, head to Dickies Arena Saturday night and hear 13,999 other people singing it along with you. Nineties favorites Brooks & Dunn are out on their Reboot (get it? Cowboys wear boots?) tour and will play plenty of crowd favorites in Cowtown. Get tickets here.
Santana
May 6, 7 p.m.| Dos Equis Pavilion
Your mom and your grandma listened to Carlos Santana, and let’s face it, if anyone passes you and says, “Man, it’s a hot one,” you have to respond, “like seven inches from the midday sun” like it’s a law, because it probably is. Anyway, there are two kinds of Santana fans, ones who think of “Evil Ways” and “Black Magic Woman” when you mention him, and ones that think of Rob Thomas and The Product G&B. Facts. A tiny band called Earth, Wind & Fire will open. Get tickets here.
