Last week, SXSW released its first batch of official artists for the spring music festival. Among the 24o performers scheduled to appear in next year’s festivities are five musicians local to Dallas. Jacks Haupt, Luna Luna, Rosegarden Funeral Party, Sara King, and Skirts will perform as part of SXSW’s official programming from March 14 – 20. Surely, many others will pop up at the free shows that proliferate around the annual event.

Last year’s festival was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which makes this year’s in-person festivities and programming extremely special for local artists eager to make connections with entertainment and music professionals. Click here for more information on the festival’s programming, including an official playlist to familiarize yourself with next year’s “Showcasing Artists” (Your FrontRow Editor’s favorite: Monaleo, Matt Goodman’s pick: Maxo Kream? Ed. note: Yes.).

Meanwhile, get to know Luna Luna and Sara King via past coverage in D Magazine.

Register here to attend next year’s festival. FYI: the Music Festival Badge is $1,045. So maybe keep your eyes peeled for RSVPs to the free shows.
